General Educational Development (GED) Test

What is the GED test?

The GED is a test that measures the major outcomes and concepts generally associated with four years of high school education. Upon successful completion of this test you will receive the State of Florida High School Diploma.

The GED test consists of five test areas; Language Arts-Writing, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts-Reading and Mathematics. The GED test takes approximately eight hours to complete and is taken in two morning sessions or two afternoon sessions.

    Who is eligible to take the test?

    YOU MUST:
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a resident of Florida
  • Have a Florida Drivers License or Florida ID Card
  • Have a Social Security Card
  • Register in Assessment Services prior to taking the GED Test.

    (Seating is limited. Registrations are taken on a first come basis. Students who register late may be referred to a future testing session.)


    GED PASSING SCORES
  • A standard score of 410 or above on each of the five subtests and an overall score of 2250 must be obtained.
  • If you meet the above requirements you will receive The State of Florida High School Diploma from The Department of Education.
  • Test results are mailed within six to eight weeks after taking the test.

    If you fail to obtain the minimum standard score or the overall score, you may retake any subtest to raise your score.
