2008-2009 Outlook
The word for the 2009 Falcons is new. The new name for the school is Daytona State College. The Falcons have a new assistant coach Nick Luppino and the team will welcome 29 new players to the fall roster. With the entire infield and catching position having graduated and moved on, the baseball team will have the challenge of fielding a new group for the interior defense. Pitching coach/ recruiting coordinator Taylor Childress lost all four starting pitchers from a year ago and must rebuild the mound corps for the Falcons from top to bottom.
The 2008 Falcons won the National Baseball Academic Team of the Year Award for the second consecutive year, a great feat! For the Falcons to be a force in 2009 the freshman will have to contribute greatly as only the outfield returns starting players from a year ago. The goals as always are to have the best academic team in the country and return to the state tournament.
