| What is the FACC |
| The Florida Association of Community Colleges (FACC) is the professional Association for Florida's 28 public community colleges, their boards, employees, retirees, and associates.
FACC is the only organization in Florida that belongs to and supports us as community college employees. FACC's purpose is to help the Florida Legislature understand the community college role in higher education and to advocate for strong and viable community colleges in Florida. Today, all 28 of the state's community colleges support the work of the Association through institutional dues as do more than 9,000 individual community college employees and retirees through individual memberships and the sharing of their talents, time and energy. Daytona State College currently boasts more than 350 members in the Daytona State FACC Chapter. Many elect to pay their annual dues by payroll deduction - for as little as $1.46 per pay period you too can become a member and help to support our college and its mission. The Chapter meets throughout the year with general membership meetings, social get togethers as well as fundraising activities in support of local charities. |
| Do the Math - More Members = More Clout! |
|
There is a direct relationship between the membership numbers and the strength and effectiveness of FACC. The primary mission of FACC at the state level is advocacy of community college issues before the Legislature and other government entities. Numbers DO make a difference in determining influence - a 9,000 member association sounds (and is!) much more impressive than a 3,000 member association. Politicians are well aware that numbers translate into votes and since members have families, friends and neighbors who also vote, the political influence of membership extends well beyond the actual numbers. Beyond raw numbers, we have an even greater stake in a healthy membership base. That stake has to do with FACC's budget, which in turn determines the level of FACC's activities and services. About 40% of the Association's annual income is from institutional (college) dues, about 40% is derived from individual membership dues, and 20% from other income sources such as the annual convention, office rent, and so on. One of the reasons why individual membership costs are so modest is that a good portion of FACC's annual expenses are paid for by institutional memberships. Individual Dues are determined by the employees ANNUAL base contracted salary: ● <$30,000 = $35 ● >$30,000 but <$75,000 = $40 ● >$75,000 but <$100,000 = $50 ● $100,000 and up = $60 |
| How FACC Works for You |
| FACC leadership and lobbyists monitor all legislation to determine its impact on community colleges and community colleges employees and then provide information to legislators so they can make informed decisions. FACC works in partnership with the Council of Community College Presidents to increase funding. Our legislative program encourages participation in the political process through a team approach. FACC has become a force in Florida. Your support makes us stronger and more effective. |
