Applying for financial aid is not as complicated as you may think! The important thing to remember is to take it one step at a time. The process consists of completing the appropriate applications and submitting requested documentation to the Financial Aid Office. To be considered for financial aid at DBC, a student must do the following: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Indicate that you are planning to attendDaytona Statein "Step Six" of the FAFSA. DBC's Title IV School Code is 001475. This application is required to determine eligibility for all sources of federal financial aid. You can file the FAFSA by paper or electronic means. The U.S. Department of Education now provides you with the option of completing the application on the web. Please use the link below to complete your online FAFSA. FAFSAs are available in the Financial Aid Office on the Daytona Beach Campus and on branch campuses. Area high schools also have supplies of FAFSAs. The FAFSA should be completed at least five weeks prior to the beginning of the semester. The FAFSA application must be received by the processor no later than June 30, 2008. Submit signed copies of the 2006 federal income tax return to the Financial Aid Office. Dependent students must also submit a signed copy of the parents’ federal income tax return. Submit the Student Aid Report (SAR) to the Financial Aid Office. The correct and complete SAR must be submitted by your last date of enrollment in 2007-2008. In addition, a student will be required to supply additional documentation if the student’s financial aid application is chosen for verification. Verification is the required federal process of checking the accuracy of the information supplied on the FAFSA. Selection is based on guidelines set up by the Department of Education. If selected for verification, the Financial Aid Office will send a notice regarding what additional information must be submitted. Verification must be completed by the last day of Spring classes or the last day of attendance, whichever comes first. |
