Daytona State College Women's Golf
2007-2008 FCCAA Female Academic Team-of-the-Year

2008-2009 Season Outlook
The Daytona State College Lady Falcon Golf Team finished its 10th season with a 2nd place finish at the 2008 NJCAA National Championship. This 2nd place finish betters the 3rd place finish they had in 2007. The Lady Falcons won 3 consecutive NJCAA Championships in 2003, 2004, and 2005. Daytona State is fortunate to have Melissa Magdor, who posted a 4th place finish at the 2008 NJCAA National Championship and received first team All-American honors, returning this season. Magdor also received the 2007-2008 MVP Award and we look for her to be one of the team leaders this season.
The Lady Falcons have a very competitive fall and spring schedule. The squad will be competing against top 4-year universities during the regular season and we look for that extensive competition to raise the team’s playing abilities and push them to their true potential.
Returning players for the Lady Falcons include Kristen Boettcher from Palm Coast, FL, who posted a 7th place finish at the 2008 NJCAA National Championship, Melissa Magdor from Oviedo, FL, and Meghan Hughes from New Smyrna Beach, FL. New players include Lauren Benetti from Celebration, FL, Maxine Gardner from Ormond Beach, FL, Brianna Hickman from Tucson, AZ, and Ashley Mooney from Port St. Lucie, FL. The entire squad will play a very important role in the team’s success.
The Lady Falcons goal this year is to have continued success on the golf course as well as in the classroom. Last year, an overall team GPA of 3.35 demonstrated the team’s hard work and dedication to their studies. The Lady Falcons were named FCCAA Female State Academic Team of the Year for the 2nd year in a row. The successful finishes that the team has posted at the national championship over the last several years have also proven their commitment to the sport and their desire to be the best. With Daytona State College hosting the 2008 NJCAA National Golf Championships once again, we look to have a strong showing and hope to regain national champion status. The outlook for the 2008-2009 season is very positive and we look for the Lady Falcons to once again have a very successful year.
