Responsibilities: Meet with potential and current students and advise on programmatic and general education courses. Conduct program reviews and develop short and long-term goals. Develop master course outlines, course syllabi, instructional materials and student assessment policies and procedures. Develop continuing education courses to meet student and community needs. Handle inquiries for program entrance requirements. Screen potential students and select candidates. Determine equipment needs, procure supplies and coordinate equipment distribution with assigned support personnel. Secure funding for capital equipment purchases through grants, donations and institutional sources. Supervise and evaluate full-time and adjunct faculty and support staff. Conduct surveys, needs assessments and prepare reports for regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations. Serve on institutional committees and task groups to serve institutional goals and objectives. Prepare for instructional time. Faculty will prepare for and teach assigned classes in the Mori Hosseini College of Hospitality and Culinary Management programs and hold required office hours which include participation in the academic advising process. In addition, chair will attend department and college meetings as requested or required and maintain an active program of professional development. Participation in the promotion and tenure process and institutional effectiveness process is required. This position will serve on committees at the program, school or college level. This position may be required to teach day, evening, and weekend classes. Represent the College at a variety of outside events as required.
Rank: Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience. The chair position is appointed annually and is on a rotating basis.
Salary: Twelve-month position for chair. Competitive salary depending on education and experience. The College also provides a comprehensive benefits package.
Tenure and Promotion: Tenure and promotion are dependent upon the development of a successful professional portfolio and committee approval.
