Daytona State hosts American Horn Quartet for 2nd summer workshop
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (June 25, 2008) - The American Horn Quartet returns to the World's Most Famous Beach for a second summer using the facilities at Daytona State College to present a week-long hornist workshop beginning Monday, July 28. A workshop highlight includes a public performance, Thursday, July 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the DSC Theater Center. In addition, the AHQ will present a public recital, Friday, Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Daytona State College Theater Center.
Established in 1982 by four Americans who perform in well known European orchestras, the AHQ enjoys an ever increasing popularity in the brass chamber music world. Its members have won numerous prizes as soloists at international competitions in Europe and North America. Unique in the field of chamber music performance, the AHQ offers an intriguing repertoire which includes not only traditional works for horn, but imaginative arrangements of works of diverse genres as well as prize winning original compositions by members of the Quartet itself. The result is a refreshing new realization of the possibilities of horn performance.
