DAYTONA BEACH, FL (July 24, 2008) - Hosted and staffed by the Daytona State College Lady Falcon coaches and players, a three-day softball clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on Aug. 7, 8 and 9 at the College's softball facilities.
Clinic participants will learn to master the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching, catching and base running. Each day of the clinic will focus on different aspects of the game:
Thursday, Aug. 7 - Offensive skills including hitting, bunting, slapping, base running and situations.
Friday, Aug. 8 - Defensive skills including Infield and Outfield skills and situations.
Saturday, Aug. 9 - Pitching and catching.
Each clinic may be selected separately for a daily cost of $75, or take advantage of all three clinics for only $150. Clinic participants will receive a t-shirt and free home-game admission to Daytona State's 2009 softball season.
According to Daytona State's Head Softball Coach, Sabrina Manhart, "With special appearances by NCAA Regional and College World Series players, we anticipate a great turn out for this clinic and look forward to participation from the community. The clinic is geared toward students aged eight years old through high school senior, and I'm sure there are talented and upcoming players who can use this time to develop their skills."
Participants should bring a lunch, sunscreen, glove, cleats, bat, tennis shoes for indoor facility use, catcher's gear (if applicable), towel and swimsuit.
Pre-registration is preferred by Monday, Aug. 4. For more information and to register contact Coach Brandi Holley at (386) 383-1846 or 506-4523 or Manhart via e-mail at manhars@DaytonaState.edu.
