Daytona State College Men's Basketball
The 2008-2009 season will be another rebuilding year for the Daytona State Falcons with only one returning player, Walt Torrance, who was an All-Conference performer. Joining Torrance on the court this year are Ian Andre’ from Albany, GA, Eric Valentin from Orlando, and seven-footer Reginald Gilbert from Yazoo City, MS who all were red-shirted for the 07-08 season. Newcomers to the Falcons are Jeremiah Hughley and DeMario James from LeFlore Prep Academy in Mobile, Alabama, one of the winningest high school programs in the country for the past four years. Guards Leke Lewu and Sekani Milligen, from New Creations Prep in Indiana, and Ramoane Jordan from Niceville High School will add much needed depth to a diminished back court. Local talents Rashad Hall from Seabreeze High School and Lace Smith from Jacksonville will bring maturity and dependability to the Falcon squad. Rounding out the team are Ben Williams, a 6’4 solid slasher from Orlando who will add scoring power, while Jeremy Grimball, a seven foot transfer will bolster the front line. Daytona State is very optimistic about the season and looks forward to a successful year in the classroom and on the court.
